White Dwarf

Description:
This is the remnant of a small star that has depleted its nuclear fuel.  It is light enough in mass that electron degeneracy can support its weight, although if it becomes greater than about 1.4 solar masses it runs the risk of catastrophic change.  These release very little energy when compared to most main sequence stars, and are quite small in radius.  All the energy they release comes from the cooling of the stellar material itself.
