       The technology of agriculture is one of the fundamental technologies that raised human civilization from a few hundred hunter/gatherers globally to being able to support millions.  It is the idea that instead of simply allowing the ecosystem to produce whatever it will and taking what you need from it, one should actively alter what it produces so that it will be what one needs.  The main method of doing this is to plant desirable crops and then tend them so that they produce more than the plants otherwise would be able to produce.
