Description:
    This is, arguably, any system of beliefs without proof.  A popular religion be a meme that spreads from one person to another, usually in groups of many people.  Most religions include an admonition to spread the religion, usually from one person to the next, but for some only from one generation to the next.

I can't think of anything relevant from a sci-fi sense in the development of a religion, so I won't include it here.
