Description:
This is the technology of making a physical object disappear from one place and reappear at another one.  (The transporters on Star Trek are an example of this).  (Either at light speed or unlimited speed.)  This is a related, and possibly competing technology, to Wormholes [[linkey]].
This might be range-limited, allowing personnel transport and intra-habitat transport but not interplanetary or interstellar.  It might allow anything up to and including crossing the galaxy instantaneously, depending on the configuration of the particular game.
Note that if only interplanetary teleportation is allowed, but a ship is able to teleport itself, you might get something like the pseudovelocity in Vernor Vinge's book A Fire Upon the Deep.  This would mean that the ship is constantly teleporting itself for short jumps, with the net effect that it's sitting still in any velocity sense, but keeps switching positions in a larger sense.  This also requires a certain amount of computer and electronic development.
Anything that allows a Teleportation Launch Device would allow torpedoes that could simply teleport themselves into the inside of an enemy ship (or attempt to), which would be pretty devastating.
