Description:
This is the
technology to create permanent wormholes which link one part of space
with another part, possibly very far away. At lower levels of
development, this only allows information and energy to be transferred
(the tidal forces involved break apart any larger objects). At
higher levels, this allows the construction of much larger and more
involved wormholes capable of transfering larger objects through
them. The larger ones should probably require truly vast energy
and mass quantities for construction (on the order of several solar
masses, probably).
Probably the most reasonable way for this to work is
for the two ends of the wormhole to be next to each other on creation,
and for the ends to have to be transported (through real space) to
their final
destination. This would add a level of complexity to the
construction process, however.
